Raptog Evolution

Description

Here a short chart of how the modern day coyote evolves into the Raptog of 50 million years hence, so you'll have a clearer picture of how the raptog evolved from it's modern day ancestor and I hope you now find the raptog a much more plausible future creature.

From left to right:

0 - 2 Million years hence:
Coyote
(Canis Latrans)

The Coyote we know today. These very adaptable members of the dog family are now only found in North America. They are even able to survive in urban area's and are one of the few large mammals to thrive in a human dominated world.

2 - 20 Million years hence:
Switch pace dog
(Procaniraptor Ambipodus)

After the extinction of mankind in the Anthronecrocene ice age, the coyote (As one of the few canid species) continues to thrive and started to evolve more like the future raptogs. This intermediate form is able to run on both it's hind legs and on all fours. It's in this intermediate form that these early "proto-raptogs" started to spread to other parts of the world, thanks to Alaska colliding with Russia, closing down the Bering strait. This gave the Raptog ancestors the chance to spread to Asia and Europe.

25 - 50 million years hence
Raptog
(Caniraptor species)

25 million years hence, the first true raptogs have evolved and succesfully spreaded throughout North America, Asia and Europe, but never made it to Australia, Africa and South America, either because of South America and Australia being islands which are by then far away from the Raptog's distrubution area or in Africa's case being hindered by the Mediterenean mountain range. Nevertherless this very succesfull group of canine predators have evolved into dozens of species and subspecies, some resembling the many dogbreeds we have today.

I hope you guys like this pic and understand how these future canids have evolved from their 21st century ancestors

Enjoy =D

It's a bit silly, not for being outlandish no, but for being way to conservative. 50 million years ago my anscenators weren't even monkeys yet if you want to grasp the scale of how much change should be occurring.
