Description

Here's my newest Future creature:

Name: Helmet Spinesnapper
Scientific Name: Deinofulica Pachycephalus
Size: 1.8 m long and 1 m tall
Diet: Hard nuts, fish and small mammals
Lives: 50 million years hence in Europe and Asia

The Helmet Spinesnapper is a flightless decendant of the modern day coot (A small black aquatic bird with a white beak) and grows to the size of a sheep. They live in along the grassy shores of rivers and lakes of Europe and Asia in medium sized herds lead by 1 or 2 strong males and consisting of 5 - 7 females. Every year around the mating season, the males keep head-butting contests to make out who gets the right to mate, like Bighorn Sheep did 50 million years earlier and the Pachycephalosaurs did in the Cretaceous. The skulls of these birds can be up to 8 inches thick, reinforcing it's powerfull beak. The strong beak is used to crack nuts or the spines of fish and small mammals which gave it's name.

The Helmet Spinesnapper is a curious bird, but when provoked or threatened, it can leave some nasty bites and can run up to 40 km/h while fleeing from a larger predator of chasing it's prey.

I hope you guys like this new creature ^^
