Description

After a long time, another future beast
Bakucoons (Tapirocyonidea)

Bakucoons (pronounced as Bahk-coons) medium-sized to large omnivores that, allthough looking like a bizarre cross between a bear and a tapir, are actually decendants of the South American Coati. Bakucoons have a bear-like body and head, but the snout ends into a tapir-like trunk while the legs are quite slender with paws closely resembling those of the long extinct Mesonychids, having sharp hook-like hoofs instead of claws which are used to dig for tubors, roots and subterenean small mammals and reptiles, breaking into ant and termite hills, catching large rodents and flightless birds and bringing down branches for soft, sucullent leaves and berries. Their trunk-like snouts are used to sniff out any underground prey, tubors and roots the Bakucoons usually feed on.

There are several species of Bakucoons, from badger-sized forest dwellers to bear-sized mountain and grassland dwellers which are all solitairy animals and are all exclusively found in South America. Due to their strange appearance, Bakucoons resemble the Baku from Japanese and Chinese folklore, a mythical chimearic beast resembling a tapir of which is said that it feeds on dreams.

The species featured here is known as the Pampa Bakucoon

Name: Pampa Bakucoon (Tapirocyon Patagonicus)
Size: 8 feet long, 5 feet high at the shoulder and weighing about 750 lb
Diet: Large rodents, hoofed mammals, grass, flightless birds, reptiles and fruit
Lives: 50 million years hence on the Patagonian grasslands.

The Pampa Bakucoon is the largest species of Bakucoon and unlike most other species of Bakucoon, The Pampa Bakucoon has a pair of elephant-like tusks which are mostly used to impale it's prey with. It posesses a thick brown shaggy coat, similar to that of a Grizzly bear. Pampa Bakucoon are also fiercely territorial and quite agressive beasts and only tollerate their own kind during the mating season.

Hope you guys like this beast
